2019
THE HR Focus Business Challenge was organised in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank Ghana. For this year’s competition, each team was given start-up capital to actually execute business ideas to achieve a set goal. The winners received among others, a prize of GHS10,000.
There were eight participating schools: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Pentecost University, University of Professional Studies (UPSA), KAAF University, Ashesi University, University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Wisconsin University, and All Nations University.
For winning first place, All Nations University came out in the first place, KNUST won second place, and KAAF University placed third at the end of the competition. All representatives of the various schools were presented with internship and national service opportunities at Standard Chartered Bank, for participating in the The HR Focus Business Challenge competition.
2018
In 2018, HR Focus partnered with MTN Pulse to organise the HR Focus Business Challenge.
The competition, involved nine universities: University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Pentecost University College, Wisconsin University College, Radford University, Accra Institute of Technology, University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Takoradi Technical University, Presbyterian University College and All Nations University College.
The competition ended with the University of Ghana Business School, University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
At the end of the day, UPSA emerged the MTN Pulse-HR Focus Business Challenge winners, a second win in three years. They walked away with a winner’s plaque, cash prizes, souvenirs from sponsors, phones, certificates, internship slots and many others, while runners-up were awarded cash prizes, modems, souvenirs from sponsors and certificates.
2017
The HR Focus Business Challenge this year, came ahead of the HR Focus Conference and Awards 2017, organised on the 12th and 13th of October.
At the preliminary level of the competition, three schools emerged winners to compete with the defending champions, the University of Professional Studies Accra(UPSA). The competition took place during the HR Focus Career Development Session on the 12th of October, 2017 at the College of Physicians and surgeons.
Competing schools were the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), Radford University College, Wisconsin University College, University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Pentecost University College (PUC) and Presbyterian University College.
Pentecost University College emerged winners, and received a cash prize internship opportunities, a package from MTN that included a tablet, Smartphone, mifi device, Bluetooth headset, power bank, among other souvenirs.
