The 2022 second edition of HR Interactive dubbed “Databank HR Interactive”, was organised to discuss the theme: “Developing the Right Talent, Building a Growth Mindset”. Margaret Jackson, Managing Partner at Rainbow Consult delivered the keynote speech and she was joined by Mr. Justice Annan, Chartered HR Professional & Business Leader and Dr. Mrs. Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Advisor, Office of the Chief Executive, VRA. Over 150 HR Practitioners across Ghana, registered and participated in this event.

Mr. James Laar, the Managing Director of L’AINE Services, shared nuggets on innovating the world of work in a way that will inspire growth in people. He said, “In our subsidiary HR Focus Africa, we understand the high value employees offer to our businesses and the deep connection between people policies and organizational growth. That is why we organise these events, to provide the opportunity to connect and grow more people and businesses.” On the importance of talent development to the growth of a business. He said “As HR professionals, I am sure we all understand the high value our workers offer our businesses. Our businesses cannot grow without our people, and if their growth is stagnant, it will also affect the overall growth of the business.”

In her keynote address, Mrs. Margaret Jackson stated that “for employees’ training and development to find true success, the talent development strategy must align with corporate targets and business needs.” Madam Mary Mintah, HR Manager at the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), also said, “As HR Practitioners, we have to identify the potentials of our team, their interests, abilities, strengths and capacities and develop it accordingly. As an practitioner, it is your duty to explore and find out what needs to be done to help your talent develop.”

Dr. Irene Stella admonished HR Practitioners to start creating a culture of creativity, innovation, openness, integrity, accountability and trust. She said, “HR Practitioners have to create a culture that creates the opportunity for people to know the fine lines within which they have to operate.” Mr. Justice Annan, also spoke to succession planning in organisations and how developing talent is not complete without it. He said, “As part of that strategy, organisations should train talent on every level so that when people move, there are others who are ready to fill in the roles.”

During the event, HR Focus launched the HumanManager software in collaboration with Systemspecs. It is an intuitive, innovative and easy-to-use human capital management solution for small, medium and large-scale organisations across Africa.

Launching the software in Ghana, Dr. Mrs. Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Advisor, Office of the Chief Executive at Volta River Authority (VRA) said, “For us to ensure that HR is at the place where it must be, that HR is supporting business decisions with the right information and the right data, it is important that we have a certain kind of software that will aggregate all the data we need to make key decisions.”  She then admonished all HR Practitioners to patronize the software to efficiently manage their team.

The 2022 second edition of the HR Interactive event was insightful and informative. The Q3 edition is scheduled to take place in August and promises to be as action-packed.
