HOW ORGANISATIONS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINANCIAL GROWTH OF THEIR EMPLOYEES

Employee financial stress has intensified overtime, particularly in the Post-COVID-19 era and this can go a long way to affect the performance of employees. According to the PwC Employee Financial Wellness Survey (2021), workers who have experienced significant financial stress are roughly four times more likely to confess that their finances have caused them to be distracted at work.

THE RISE OF WEDDINGS AND THE FALL OF WORKPLACE PRODUCTIVITY.

“The Knot”, a globally utilized wedding planning mobile application and website has projected a wedding boom in the year 2022. According to their report, there were 2.2 million weddings in 2019. However, following the pandemic, there will be as many as 2.6 million weddings taking place in America alone in 2022. Lauren Kay, Executive Editor of The Knot, in a statement said, “This year will not only be the year with the most weddings in recent history, but also starts to welcome the next generation of couples — Gen Zers — getting married". This prediction says a lot about the world of work today, seeing as even the Gen Zs make up 30% of today’s world of work.

THE BREAK UP; WHEN PROBATION TURNS SOUR

Lori and Michael’s relationship reminded me of my friend Alice’s story. After finishing our National Service in 2019, Alice was one of the few people I knew to get a job offer. After a series of interviews with the HR, her supervisor, the Manager, the Executive Director, and finally, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, she was offered the job. Alice was so excited, she called all her friends to share the news. Even though we were also yet to find jobs of our own, we shared in her joy and tapped into her blessings.

January is Not Long; Just Watch Your Spendings

We have all heard the complaint; “January is too long”. Have you ever considered the reason for this, being mismanagement of our December salaries and bonuses during the Christmas season? Managing your finances goes beyond making a saving plan; it includes setting financial objectives, making a financial plan, paying attention to your spending, and avoiding debt. With these four steps, you can become more financially responsible and build wealth for the future:

“DOMESTIC Engineer” DESIGNATE

“Domestic engineer- designate”. This was the title an elderly lady gave after her name when she was asked to introduce herself at a social gathering. A noble profession indeed! Some people call it [a]housewife. [b] Home manager. [c] Home economist. [d] His majesty’s registered servant. I suppose I could go on and on. All I am saying is that the woman’s title was so apt, in fact by the end of the evening all other ladies who wanted to call themselves “unemployed’ because they were in the home, were quickly corrected by the men with a loud chorus, “domestic engineer”.

HR as a Product: Increasing Value for Organisations

Human Resource management has evolved heavily over the years and is now at the stage of product management. The traditional HR professional has built a career of knowing what their leaders need before they know it themselves, and providing it for them with efficiency. Beyond that, HR has evolved in as many ways as the world of work has. Today, HR is not just a service offered to members of staff, but is now broad enough to be a product that needs to be managed, marketed, assessed and improved on all levels.
